The conductor and pianist Siegmund Weinmeister was born in Salzburg.

There he studied piano and conducting at the “Mozarteum” University  with artists like M. Gielen, N. Harnoncourt, P. Lang, G. Sandor and D. Bashkirow.  He won the “Bernhard Paumgartner Medaille” for the best interpretation of a W. A. Mozart piece, “Cosi fan tutte”.  He also won several prizes at the Austrian national competition for young musicians “Jugend musiziert”.

Further artistic development was attained as assistant for L. Maazel, Edo de Waadt and G. Kuhn at the Salzburg Festival; as conductor and repetitor at Braunschweig, Cologne, Bielefeld and Vice GMD in Kaiserslautern. He is since 2004 Vice-president of the Foundation "Jovenescantantes M. P.", since 2006 the artistic director of the "Santa Vittoria Festival", 2008 the musical director of the "Krenekensemble" and since 2010 Kapellmeister at the Stateopera of Hannover.

As an orchestra conductor he has worked with the Cologne  Philharmonic - Gürzenichorchester, the Rheinland Pfalz Staatsphilharmonie, the Braunschweig Staatskapelle, the Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the Northern Sinfonia Orchestra of Newcastle, the Orchestra Filharmonia Marchigiana, the Camarata Academica Salzburg, the Ensemble Diagonal, and many others.

He has also performed at the Salzburg Festival, the Rheingau Festival, The Schleswig Holstein Festival, The Salzburg Mozartwoche , The Berlin concert hall, The Vienna concert hall, The Frankfurt Grand Opera, The Leipzig Gewandhaus, The Tonhalle Hamburg, as well as the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus.
